William Thoburn & John Grant are thought to have had a boatyard at Coble Dene, North Shields. The partnership between Thoburn & Grant was dissolved in July 1856. There are also records for Thorburn & Alman and Thoburn on his own. Thomas Grant is also mentioned in certain records. Thoburn also appears written as Thorburn in some records.
