Comments: 08/06/1877: Ran aground near Blyth, Northumberland
09/06/1877: Refloated and taken into the Tyne
19/09/1888: Grounded in thick fog opposite the fish pier in South Shields
30/08/1898: Sank at Whitehall Point near North Shields after eight 10ton rail trucks laden
with coal broke adrift, crashed through the barriers on the staithes and landed on the
deck of the collier LANCHESTER which was loading below
MONARCH was lying alongside & some trucks landed on her & broke her in two
