1894 The following are Lloyds Lists reports on her loss
09/06/1894 Steamer MARQUIS of Bristol from Port Talbot for Bristol with tin,
ashore on Breaksea. Full of water
13/06/1894 Doubtful whether can get her off, bottom badly holed. I have salved
all cargo of tinplate, except a few boxes lost; all above high water
15/06/1894 Steamer's bottom very badly holed. Do not think it worth expense of
getting her off. Recommend selling where lies. Owner states insured at Lloyd's
16/06/1894 Surveyor reports "I find that nearly all the floors are broken and she
is badly holed; two thirds of the plates of the bottom are broken. Recommend sell as lies"
22/06/1894 Wreck sold for £150. Stores for £7-10s-6d
Thanks to David Asprey for the above details
