Tug Owner: Norman Keedy & Sons Ltd, South Shields

My thanks to Christine Hodgkiss who has been in touch to say that Norman Keedy was her grandfather. The business started with her great grandfather ferrying coal round in coal barges. It then passed to his son Norman Keedy and then on to his two sons John Russell and Kenneth. Christine's father Russell Keedy worked on all these boats. The photo of the Kielo with the people on it was her father Norman, mother Ethel and Christine with her two boys and her husband. Christine's Uncle was Kenneth Keedy who did most of the diving in the old suits with the lead boots and copper helmets.

The following tugs were owned or operated by the company:

Tug Name Year D / H / P
Asp 1959 D / H / P
Boa 1959 D / H / P
Kielo 1922 D / H / P
